Looking for a secure tablet stand, but not sure which Bouncepad range is right for your application?

Bouncepad offers three main approaches to securing a tablet: Original, Core and Clip. While all three are designed for commercial environments, they secure and present the tablet in different ways.

Original uses a lockable enclosure for maximum security and a fully integrated appearance. Core uses a strong adhesive mounting system for the most minimal, open design. Clip mechanically grips the tablet, combining universal compatibility with a secure, non-adhesive mounting system.

In this guide, we'll compare Original, Core and Clip side by side to help you choose the right tablet stand for your application.

1. Tablet Security

Original Range: The tablet sits inside a lockable enclosure, providing a high level of physical security. This makes Original particularly well suited to permanent installations, unattended environments and busy public spaces.

Core Range: Uses a high-strength 3M adhesive pad which bonds to the back of the tablet and is then mechanically secured to the stand with a screw. This creates a strong and secure connection without requiring an enclosure around the device.

Clip Range: Uses mechanical grips to securely hold the tablet in place. It doesn't rely on adhesive and doesn't completely enclose the device, providing a secure solution while keeping much of the tablet exposed.

2. Design and Aesthetics

Original Range: Creates a clean, integrated kiosk appearance by enclosing the tablet within a purpose-designed faceplate. It is a classic Bouncepad design that prioritises security, durability and a professional finish.

Core Range: Our most minimal approach. With no enclosure or mechanical grips around the tablet, Core allows the device itself to remain the focus.

Clip Range: Offers an open, contemporary appearance while providing visible mechanical security. More of the tablet remains exposed than with Original, while the grips provide a clear physical connection between the tablet and stand.

3. Tablet Compatibility

Original Range: Each Original product is configured specifically for your chosen tablet. We support iPads alongside a wide range of Samsung and Microsoft tablets. This tailored approach provides a particularly neat and integrated fit.

Core Range: Offers universal compatibility with USB-C powered tablets and iPads, making it easy to change or upgrade devices without replacing the stand.

Clip Range: Also offers universal tablet compatibility, with adjustable mechanical grips accommodating a wide range of tablets. This makes Clip particularly useful when different tablet models are used across an estate or when devices may change in the future.

4. How the Tablet Is Held

This is probably the easiest way to understand the difference between the three ranges:

  • Original: The tablet is enclosed and locked in place.
  • Core: An adhesive pad bonds to the tablet and is screwed securely to the stand.
  • Clip: The tablet is mechanically gripped in place.

There isn't one approach that's right for every installation. The best choice depends on the level of security, flexibility and visual style you're looking for.

5. Access to the Tablet

Original Range: The enclosure covers the edges of the tablet, creating a controlled and secure installation. Depending on the tablet and configuration, this can restrict access to some physical buttons and features.

Core Range: Leaves virtually the entire tablet exposed, providing easy access to cameras, buttons and other device features.

Clip Range: Also keeps most of the tablet exposed. The mechanical grips hold the device securely while retaining access to much of the tablet.

For applications that rely heavily on the tablet's cameras, sensors or physical controls, Core or Clip may therefore be preferable to a fully enclosed solution.

6. Cable Management

Original Range: The power cable is fully concealed within the lockable enclosure before being routed through the mounting arm, creating a clean installation with no exposed cabling.

Core Range: Features an integrated cable grip to help prevent tampering or accidental disconnection. The cable remains visible where it connects to the tablet before being routed through the mounting arm.

Clip Range: The power cable is completely concealed and secured within the mechanical jaws before being routed through the mounting arm. This keeps the cable protected from tampering while maintaining Clip's open, universal design.

7. Changing or Upgrading Tablets

Original Range: Because the enclosure is configured for a particular tablet model, changing to a significantly different device may require a new faceplate or enclosure configuration.

Core Range: Its universal design makes changing tablets straightforward. The adhesive pad is bonded to the tablet and then mechanically secured to the stand screws. This means the tablet can be removed from the stand without removing the adhesive pad. A new adhesive pad is required when changing to a different tablet.

Clip Range: The mechanical gripping system can be released and adjusted for another compatible tablet without adhesive, making it particularly well suited to businesses that regularly replace, upgrade or redeploy their devices.

8. Mounting Options

The range you choose doesn't necessarily dictate how the tablet itself needs to be positioned.

Across Bouncepad's ranges, there are options for countertops, desks, walls and floors, with different configurations depending on how users need to interact with the tablet.

This means you can start by choosing the tablet-holding system that best suits your requirements – Original, Core or Clip – and then select the mounting style for your particular application.

9. Which Range Should You Choose?

Choose Original if...

  • Security is your highest priority.
  • The tablet will be installed in a busy or unattended public environment.
  • You want a fully enclosed, integrated kiosk appearance.
  • You're deploying a known tablet model and don't expect to change it regularly.
  • You want the power cable to be fully concealed within the enclosure.

Original is our strongest choice for permanent, high-security installations.

Choose Core if...

  • You want the most minimal possible design.
  • You want the tablet itself to remain fully visible.
  • Access to the tablet's cameras, buttons and other features is important.
  • You want universal compatibility.
  • You want a secure mounting system without an enclosure or mechanical grips around the tablet.

Core is our most minimal universal solution.

Choose Clip if...

  • You want universal tablet compatibility without using adhesive.
  • You want the tablet to remain largely open and accessible.
  • You may need to remove, replace or upgrade tablets in the future.
  • You prefer a mechanical method of securing the tablet.
  • You want the power cable completely concealed within the tablet holder.

Clip is our most flexible mechanically secured universal solution.

Three Different Ways to Secure Your Tablet

Ultimately, Original, Core and Clip aren't simply different versions of the same tablet stand. They provide three different approaches to securing a tablet.

Choose Original when you want the security and integrated appearance of a lockable enclosure.

Choose Core when you want the cleanest, most minimal installation with a universal mounting system that keeps the tablet fully exposed.

Choose Clip when you want universal compatibility and mechanical security, particularly if tablets need to be removed, replaced or upgraded over time.

Whichever approach you choose, Bouncepad offers mounting options for a wide range of commercial applications, from point of sale and visitor check-in to self-service, room booking and interactive displays.
